John 3:16

This is how much God loved the world. He gave his Son, his one and only Son.

Here’s the very essence of the gospel is love. By sending his Son, God wasn’t displaying his power, or reining us in. He wasn’t beating us into submission. He was just longing for us, loving us and expressing this love to the whole world.
