Fun and food for a fiver

Each school term a group of Mothers’ Union members organise an evening for local families, usually on a Friday night from 6-8pm.

Tickets are sold at £5 for the whole family, though each family member is given their own ticket, so there is some idea of the numbers coming.

Food is served buffet style and there are quiz sheets and activity sheets for all ages. After the food, party style games are played with all the family joining in – team games, beetle, musical chairs, etc. A Mothers’ Union resource table with copies of up to date literature is available in the hall for parents to browse.

“One of the fathers said that he never knew church could be so much fun!”

  • An Inspired idea:
Engaged couples add their names and the date of their wedding to a prayer tree so that members can then pray for them.

  • Feedback on Inspired

"Looking through the Inspired pages I really was ‘inspired’ to read about the variety of activities with which Mothers’ Union members are involved; some of them really simple so that even the smallest branches could take them on.

Just imagine if every branch was ‘inspired’ to take up one thing – what an impact that would have!"
