Prayer Diary

Prayer Diary December 2017

During December, as we approach Advent and Christmas, we pray for all our branches across Europe, and our link branches EZO, South Sudan; THIKA, Kenya; JOS, Nigeria; AKOKO, Nigeria and UNIÃO DE MULHERES EPISCOPALS ANGLICANAS DO BRAZIL (UMEAB), Brazil
We pray for the work of all our branches as they work to help those who are in need.
We remember how Jesus came to us, how he brought light into our darkness,
Hope into despair. He did not keep his faith to himself;
He did not live his life for himself;
He shared it with others.
We pray for Lynne Tembey Worldwide President ;Bev Jullien,  Mothers’ Union Chief Executive; Provincial President , Nikki Sweatman; Tonie Chandler, Diocesan President; Revd Hilary Jones, Diocesan Treasurer; and Rev Deborah Chapman Diocesan Chaplain.
We pray for all our members, Branch Leaders, Treasurers, Secretaries and all officers. We pray for all our Diocesan members throughout the Diocese of Europe.
Advent Sunday
Father God, this is the day when we begin to think about Christmas. The very word makes us feel excited. You want us to be excited about Christmas and the coming of your Son Jesus Christ, and you want us to enjoy it. But you also want us to understand it. In these weeks of Advent Lord, teach us what Christmas means Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Father, we thank you for the bible which tells us the Christmas story. Thank you too, for the writings which tell us of the coming Saviour and King. Thank you for those who toiled and gave their lives so that we could have the bible in our own language. Help us to understand your word and to treasure it as you speak to us from it, preparing our hearts for Christmas.
25th December We celebrate the birth of our Lord

Jesus, new-born child of all time
We greet your birth with delight
You are precious beyond words
For our world needs your presence more than ever.
Let the angel’s promise of your good news
Offering joy and peace to the world
Be heard by those who lead and guide.
Let kings bow down and all creation greet this holy moment
As we seek to grasp its magnitude
For you are God’s gift, silently delivered to every human heart.

We thank you for the many blessings we receive this Christmas time through the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Mothers’ Union Prayer
Loving Lord
We thank you for your love so freely given to us all.We pray for families around the world. Bless the work of the Mothers’ Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life.
Empowered by your spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship, and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Mary Sumner Prayer
All this day, O Lord, let me touch as many lives as possible for thee; and every life I touch, do thou by thy spirit quicken, whether through the word I speak, the prayer I breathe, or the life I live.
Amen
