As a Christian organisation the development of the faith of our members is very important. Our faith is central to the work we undertake so needs support as we strive to put our faith into action. Members in the Diocese of St. Albans are involved in a range of activities and have access to resources which enrich their faith.
In 2010 a prayer walk was organised called “A Stroll for the Soul”. It was about two miles long around Harpenden Common lead by Catherine Kyte, Faith Support office from Mary Sumner House. She provided a commentary and prayers at set points on the trail relating to the wonderful, natural world all around us.
In 2011 a Prayer Pilgimage was held. This involved each member joining up with others in their area, visiting churches en route. This provided an opportunity to explore the church and offer prayers. Everyone arrived at Barton le Cley, a central church in the diocese, for a service all together. Mary Sumner Day, August 9th, was chosen so that we could reflect upon the life of Mary Sumner and on the work of the organisation that she founded.
In the first week of July each year, it is the turn of the membeers in the Diocese of St. Albans to pray in the worldwide Wave of Prayer. We pray particularly for our link dioceses of Grafton and Armidale in Australia, Lusaka in Central Africa, Akoko in Nigeria and Christ the King in Southern Africa.

Each day, at midday, members pause to pray, creating a 24/7 prayer link around the world using the prayer resource Families Worldwide. This handy-sized booklet describes the countries around the world and the work of the Mothers’ Union in those countries enabling our prayers to be informed and specific.
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth”.
Psalm 145: 18
