Engaging as individuals

People often say that being a member is a way of life.  Whilst joining with fellow members for prayer and fellowship is a wonderful part of what it means to be Mothers Union, day by day, as individuals, members draw on the inspiration of Mary Sumner to live out their calling to reflect Gods love to those around them.

The following are some suggestions of how individual members may want to engage with Inspired.

  • Keep in touch with the latest resources provided by Mothers Union centrally and in your area. Consider whether you have family and friends who might like to know about these resources.  See the Inspired ideas for  suggestions about which resources it might be appropriate to consider giving out in a range of situations.
  • Share with others why Mothers Union is important to you.  Use the Inspired ideas as examples of what members do, to help illustrate the caring support that Mothers’ Union offer to couples, families and communities.  Encourage people to join in!
  • Consider whether there are any Inspired ideas that might help to meet needs within your local church or community if there are, could you mention the idea to the local clergy, who may then wish to take the idea forward?
  • Pray for the work of Mothers Union locally, in your diocese, nationally and internationally.  Pray specifically for some of the Inspired ideas featured, and also draw on the information included in Families Worldwide.

If you are aware of great ideas that members in your area are involved in, that you think others would like to know of, then do let us know.  Please contact us at inspired@themothersunion.org

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared  in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10

  • An Inspired idea:
Engaged couples add their names and the date of their wedding to a prayer tree so that members can then pray for them.

  • Feedback on Inspired

"Looking through the Inspired pages I really was ‘inspired’ to read about the variety of activities with which Mothers’ Union members are involved; some of them really simple so that even the smallest branches could take them on.

Just imagine if every branch was ‘inspired’ to take up one thing – what an impact that would have!"
