Totnes Archdeaconry

Our planned events for this year as an Archdeaconry will repeat two activities we have held successfully in recent years.

On Friday August 8th. anticipating Mary Sumner Day, we shall hold a Quiet Day from 10.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. at Chudleigh Parish Church, conveniently just off the A38.  I am very pleased to say the two talks in the morning will be given by the Revd. Mark Smith, Vicar of Kingsteignton.  The day will finish with a Eucharist and tea.  There will be a Bring and Buy Stall to defray expenses; any profits will go to the MU in the diocese. Members from outside the archdeaconry are, of course, welcome and it may be a good opportunity to invite others who are not members to come along too.

To raise funds for MU projects, we plan to hold another fete in the grounds of St. Mary’s Totnes, serving coffees and light lunches.  This will be on an Elizabethan Day, when the coach trips call in – Tuesday 2nd September from 10.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.  Anything saleable is welcome as is your presence!

We are also looking forward to the visit of the World-Wide President, Mrs. Lynne Tembey, in July.

The Archdeaconry will be represented at the Annual Meeting in Belfast as my husband and I have decided to use it as a reason for visiting Northern Ireland for a few days, since we’ve never been to the North.  Giant’s Causeway – here we come!
