Mothers’ Union enables families in distress to have a time away together (AFIA). We have organised many successful AWAY FROM IT ALL HOLIDAYS. This can include a single daytrip.

SCBU – special care baby units
We knit specialised bonnets and garments for the premature babies in the special care baby unit at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. We prepare items for bereaved parents delivered through the Hospital Chaplaincy.

2021 holiday support for care workers’ affected by the trauma of supporting COVID19
August 2020 A caravan holiday week on the Isle of Sheppey for two families.
August 2019 thirteen families had an all-inclusive week at Lodge Hill Activity Centre. Two further families had a caravan holiday break.
Homelessness in our area
When young people who are experiencing homelessness are given temporary accommodation through Porchlight (Canterbury) and to Look Ahead flatlets (previously Trinity Foyer, Maidstone) the Mothers’ Union in Canterbury Diocese provide a ‘welcome box’ of basic necessities.
2015-2018 we gave practical support to the Kent single mothers’ housing unit Willowbrook Place, based in Maidstone. This unit is no longer in operation.
