There are four Units within the Diocese which are led by the following Trustees:-
Eric Swindells – Action & Outreach
This is the largest Unit in the Diocese and Eric has the job of coordinating the leaders of the various projects within the Unit which include Women’s Aid, Baby Project, Refugee Support, Prison Project, Parenting and Marriage Support all ably led by hard working and dedicated members whose full details appear in the Mothers’ Union Diocesan Directory.
Also under the umbrella of Action and Outreach Elizabeth Walker is the Worldwide Rep and maintains the Overseas Links.
Finally under this Unit Trustee Jill Harris looks after the Away From It All (AFIA) scheme.
Eureka Drayton – Faith & Policy
The Coordinator is responsible for our spiritual guidance within the Diocese; ably overseeing all services for Diocesan events and Council meetings and arranging and giving input to quiet days and days of reflection. The Coordinator could not do their work without the guidance and support of the Diocesan Chaplain and the Indoor Members representative.

Sally Cox – Fundraising & Communications
Sally oversees the vital work of fundraising in the Diocese and the Unit acts as a funnel for the many wonderful initiatives that come out of Mary Sumner House, the Make a Mothers’ Day campaign and the Wheels Appeal being prime examples.
The other branch of the work in this Unit relates to Communications and we aim to raise the profile of Birmingham Mothers’ Union through local media wherever possible. This Unit also includes the Editor of Birmingham Link, myself and Sheila Benbow, and also the Facebook Administrator Kit MacLachlan.
Margaret Howlett – Finance & Administration
Margaret is at the helm of this very necessary Unit which works quietly away making sure the wheels are oiled and we can function in the Diocese. Also in this Unit is Trustee Deirdre Moll who has specific responsibility for those members in the Diocese who are not attached to a Branch within a parish.
Others in the Unit are the Diocesan Secretary, Sheila Benbow, Honorary Diocesan Treasurer Susan Haigh, Assistant Diocesan Treasurer Peter Johnson and Training Facilitator/Speakers Pamela Nelson.
Under the umbrella of this Unit the MUe reps work tirelessly in supplying and selling MUe goods at every possible opportunity to raise the profile of Mothers’ Union and make a little more money for the Diocese and the Gift Aid Administrator reclaims what he can from the Inland Revenue to also swell the coffers.
