Diocesan President – Jackie Brocklebank
Jackie took up office as Diocesan President in January 2013, and as President she is the public face of Birmingham Mothers’ Union both within the Diocese and elsewhere. Jackie says she feels her role is one of leadership but she hopes to “encourage all members to share God’s love in whatever way they feel they can” recognising that often members are doing far more to carry out the work of Mothers’ Union than they realise merely by supporting their own families and church families.
Since becoming Diocesan President Jackie has met many members who have inspired her but has also come across those who need encouragement in the work they are doing and it is those members in particular that Jackie would like to encourage out of their comfort zones, to challenge and to embolden in the work they do for Mothers’ Union.
In addition to the many duties Jackie has in the Diocese with members, clergy and lay people, as Diocesan President, she attends Mothers’ Union Worldwide Council which gives her the opportunity to “see the big picture” as she calls it. She recognises that this is a wonderful chance to learn from her peers in other Dioceses and to be nurtured by their support and guidance (and in due course feel able to support and guide others).
Whilst recognising the importance of her role as Diocesan President Jackie stresses that it is important for her to “keep grounded” and she intends to do this by continuing the voluntary work she does with families under stress through her prison work with young Dads and through her paid work in education with those with learning disabilities.
Jackie says that over the next few years she hopes to “continue to meet members, make new friends and encourage all those who have put their trust in me to lead them in this amazing organisation”.
In addition to the Diocesan President the following are Trustees in the Diocese
The Vice Presidents – Pat Marshall, Rowena Nichols and Erica Parker
The role of the Vice Presidents is to support and deputise for the Diocesan President wherever they can and to help, meet and feedback from as many Mothers’ Union members in the Diocese as possible.
To facilitate this each Vice President is responsible for different Deanery Groups within the Diocese as follows:
Moseley and Shirley and West Birmingham
Solihull, Coleshill and Yardley
Polesworth, Sutton Coldfield and Aston and City
